Purdue University's College of Veterinary Medicine provides an opportunity for students to earn both a veterinary degree and a graduate degree (MS or PhD) concurrently. This program enables exceptionally qualified and dedicated students to prepare for biomedical research careers. Typically, students can complete the combined MS and DVM requirements in four to five years, while the PhD and DVM combination takes six to seven years. Admission requires acceptance into both the College of Veterinary Medicine and the Graduate School. Prospective graduate students must have a bachelor's degree (or equivalent credits) and demonstrate excellent academic performance. Participants need to select a faculty advisor specializing in their research field before applying to the Graduate School through the relevant academic department or interdisciplinary program. After admission, students, their advisors, and the academic department share responsibility for course registration.
