The Communications, Networking, Signal & Image Processing (CNSIP) research field focuses on handling information and signals integral to daily life. Its uses span wireless mobile communications, radar, image processing, medical imaging, computer vision, speech recognition and synthesis, remote sensing, computer networking, and multimedia communication and processing. Studies in these domains influence cellular and internet communication, travel via GPS and smart highways, automated machine interpretation of the visual world through images and videos, processing of video, audio, and data for entertainment and e-commerce, and voice recognition and response by virtual assistants. Students will explore cutting-edge research in this extensive field, covering not only the aforementioned subjects but also information forensics, machine learning, computational imaging, video analytics, 5G, millimeter waves, and smart grid networking.
