Computer Science Honors students must meet all standard BS in Computer Science requirements while also completing extra coursework and a research project. To remain in the program, students need to maintain a 3.25 overall GPA with a minimum 3.6 in Computer Science and required CSHO courses. The curriculum involves advanced mathematics, three specialized CS/ECE courses from a selection of four, participation in a research seminar, completion of a research project, and one graduate-level course. This track particularly benefits those considering graduate studies while also providing valuable skills for immediate career seekers.
Eligible students can declare this major after their first semester or upon finishing the six core courses. Honors College admits may also enroll in this program. Students meeting the requirements can apply for admission up until their seventh semester, provided they have at least two academic semesters remaining to complete both the research seminar and project. The Database and Information Systems specialization equips students with expertise in database design principles, information retrieval algorithms, and the development of comprehensive database and information systems.
