Construction Engineers contribute to building an improved world through the design, planning, and oversight of infrastructure like highways, bridges, airports, railways, buildings, dams, and reservoirs. These projects demand expertise in engineering management, business practices, economics, and human behavior. Construction engineers are involved in structural design, cost estimation, sourcing materials, selecting equipment, and applying scientific and engineering techniques.
The Construction Engineering faculty equip students to work as professional engineers and managers across the varied construction sector. This encompasses research and educational initiatives in areas such as discrete event simulation, 3D animation, virtual reality for construction operations, augmented reality, construction safety (involving CSA and NIOSH organizations), new construction technologies, and multimedia tools for construction.
