Purdue's communication program teaches you both the techniques for effective communication and the underlying principles behind them. You'll develop critical thinking and writing abilities, persuasive speaking skills, teamwork strategies, and media production expertise. More importantly, you'll understand the theories explaining why these methods succeed, including persuasion dynamics, communication ethics, and process fundamentals.
The curriculum requires three core courses for all students, plus a writing class and an experiential learning component. Students then select a specialization area.
The General Communication concentration offers adaptable options for those interested in multiple Lamb School disciplines.
This customizable approach lets students design their program by selecting courses from different concentrations, ideally blending two or three complementary areas of study.
