The Omenn-Darling Bioengineering Institute (ODI) at Princeton University offers exceptional academic guidance for students pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Bioengineering. ODI serves as the hub for an expanding, interdisciplinary Bioengineering network that drives innovative research and educates future pioneers in the field. Housed within the School of Engineering and Applied Science, with affiliated laboratories throughout campus, doctoral candidates in Bioengineering gain from Princeton's distinctive collaborative culture. Student research focuses on one or more foundational areas of Princeton's Bioengineering program: Cellular Bioengineering, Device Bioengineering, and Computational Bioengineering. The Ph.D. degree is principally granted based on a dissertation presenting novel research in a Bioengineering specialization. To ensure students are thoroughly prepared for their research, they must complete seven courses—five during their initial year—and engage in faculty advisor rotations. After being paired with an advisor, students jointly assemble a committee comprising the advisor and two additional faculty members for annual progress reviews.
