Film production is an artistic endeavor grounded in narrative creation and a sense of wonder about both oneself and the surrounding world. As a student in our program, you'll master all aspects of the craft, from scriptwriting and planning to filming and post-production. You'll delve into various styles including fiction, non-fiction, avant-garde cinema, and video installations, uncovering your artistic identity while honing essential technical abilities. At Pratt, you'll start creating personal projects and working alongside classmates from your very first term. Our comprehensive resources include professional-grade equipment - cameras, stabilizers, audio gear, and lighting setups - plus editing suites, digital tools, and dedicated production spaces. Our experienced faculty of working filmmakers and artists guide small groups of 12 students through film analysis, technical workshops, creative assignments, peer reviews, and guest lectures. Upon completing the program, you'll have produced 12-20 original short films while contributing to numerous collaborative projects. You'll graduate with a professional portfolio, festival-ready pieces, and potentially strong materials for advanced degree applications.
