At Pratt, we view fashion as a medium for cultural expression through clothing. As a student, you'll examine fashion through a societal lens, developing a distinct perspective on current challenges and addressing them through your creative work. The Fashion Design program nurtures personal growth within a team-oriented setting, shaped by introspection and constructive feedback. Learners must integrate knowledge of materials, fashion heritage, theory, and modern culture into their design choices, creating collections that address sustainability and ethical concerns. Through internships with leading design firms like Thom Browne, Zero Maria Cornejo, The Row, Altuzarra, Maryam Nassir Zadeh, Oscar de la Renta, and Creatures of the Wind, students gain practical exposure to New York's fashion scene. These placements offer real-world experience, professional connections, and training in resume writing and portfolio presentation. All Pratt students must fulfill a three-credit internship requirement, with faculty advisors ensuring educational goals are achieved throughout the process.
