The Automotive Technology program prepares students for careers as apprentice automotive technicians or for pursuing Bachelor's degrees at advanced technology institutions, leading to future management and teaching positions in the automotive field.
College of Alameda's ATECH program holds Master-Level certification from the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Educational Foundation. The curriculum addresses safety practices, professional ethics, hand and power tool usage, along with automotive theory, repair, and component testing. Significant focus is placed on diagnosing and repairing electronic and computer-controlled systems in modern vehicles.
The Associate of Science degree will be granted after successfully completing the major course requirements specified below and meeting the General Education requirements for the Associate in Arts Degree outlined in the Degrees and Programs section of this Catalog.
