Laney College's English AA-T program supports students with diverse objectives, such as transferring to UC, CSU, or other four-year universities. Participants will develop advanced abilities in essay writing and literary critique. Those who complete the AA-T in English receive guaranteed benefits for CSU transfer: junior standing admission, priority consideration for their local CSU campus, and preference for English or related majors. Transfer students to CSU institutions will need no more than 60 additional units to obtain a bachelor's degree. The program requires completion of 60 transferable semester units to California State University, encompassing: (1) Either the IGETC or CSU General Education Breadth Requirements and (2) 21 major-specific semester units with a C grade or higher, plus a minimum 2.0 GPA in all transferable CSU courses. For detailed AA-T degree guidance, students should meet with a Laney College advisor.
