These programs take an interdisciplinary approach to exploring human behavior and social systems. Learners examine and assess human communities, including their institutions, organizations, and group dynamics, along with interpersonal relationships. Participants gain knowledge of different theoretical frameworks and research methods while developing practical skills to apply this understanding meaningfully in their personal and professional lives within our evolving social landscape. To earn an Associate of Social Sciences degree, candidates must fulfill 42 units through General Education requirements and electives. This includes 18 units of core emphasis courses (minimum C grade), 19 units of general education, plus 23 elective units totaling 60 units. Since this degree might not fully prepare students for transfer, those planning to continue at UC or CSU institutions should consult with an advisor to create a transfer strategy meeting all general education and lower-division requirements.
