The Department of Materials Science and Engineering conducts extensive research, with faculty members pioneering innovations across diverse areas such as energy systems, electronic devices, medical technologies, and structural materials. Investigations encompass all material categories, from flexible polymers to rigid ceramics, conductive metals to semiconductor compounds. Our graduate students come from varied academic backgrounds, holding undergraduate or master's degrees in fields ranging from materials science and metallurgy to chemistry, physics, mathematics, biological sciences, and multiple engineering specialties. The department boasts over 50 core and affiliated faculty members alongside roughly 150 graduate researchers.
Applicants with baccalaureate degrees in the physical sciences and engineering with a Junior/Senior grade point average of 3.2/4.0 or higher will be considered for admission.
English Proficiency: TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT) - a total score of 80 with a 19 on the speaking section for the internet-based test (iBT); TOEFL Paper-based test - the minimum acceptable score is 550; IELTS - The minimum acceptable composite score for the IELTS Academic Test is 6.5.
