The statement of intent is used to decide who will review your application for admission and whether Penn State architectural engineering is a good match for you. The statement of intent is also considered in funding decisions.

Three Letters of Recommendation
Applicants must enter the contact information for three recommendation references. The references will then be electronically notified by the Graduate School regarding how to submit/upload their individual reference evaluation form and reference letter to the applicant's application.

GRE Scores for M.S. and Ph.D. Applicants
Official scores from the Graduate Record Examination Aptitude Test (GRE) are required for admission.

The Department of Architectural Engineering recommends that applicants to the Ph.D. or M.S. degree programs should have a minimum score in the 80th percentile for the quantitative section of the GRE and a minimum score of 3.0 in the analytical writing section of the GRE.
Transcripts
Copies of transcripts, degree/study certificates, and diplomas in the language of instruction from all institutions attended, both undergraduate and graduate, should be uploaded.
International applicants must take and submit scores for the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or the IELTS (International English Language Testing System), with the exceptions noted below. The minimum acceptable score for the TOEFL is 550 for the paper-based test, 213 for the computer-based test, or a total score of 80 with a 19 on the speaking section for the Internet-based test (iBT). Applicants with iBT speaking scores between 15 and 18 may be considered for provisional admission, enrollment, and, if necessary, remedial course work.
