The Penn State Master's of Professional Studies in Labor and Global Workers' Rights program examines international labor rights, gender dynamics in the global workforce, worldwide employment relations systems, and strategic corporate analysis for organizing initiatives.
In summer terms, students complete internships with U.S. labor unions or worker advocacy groups while developing their final capstone projects.
Students who do not have a GPA of 3.0 or higher will be considered on a case-by-case basis depending on the quality of their overall application. Applicants who are still completing their baccalaureate/postsecondary requirements at the time of application may be admitted to the Graduate School provisionally based on the awarding of the baccalaureate degree. Students are also expected to have a minimum of three years of full-time work experience in some area related to labor unions or worker-oriented research/employment for admission.
English Proficiency: TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT) - a total score of 80 with a 19 on the speaking section for the internet-based test (iBT); TOEFL Paper-based test - the minimum acceptable score is 550; IELTS - The minimum acceptable composite score for the IELTS Academic Test is 6.5.
