The Department of Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese at Penn State provides graduate programs leading to M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Spanish, featuring concentrations in Spanish Peninsular literature (spanning Medieval to Modern periods), Latin American literature (from Colonial to Contemporary), and Hispanic linguistics. Qualified candidates may apply for teaching assistantships. M.A. students typically receive four semesters of funding, while Ph.D. candidates are generally ensured eight semesters of support post-M.A., subject to maintaining strong teaching performance and academic standing. Qualification Requirements
