The Ph.D. program aims to produce groundbreaking, credible, and significant research. As this degree prepares students for careers in academia and scholarly investigation, candidates must prove their capacity for autonomous research. To obtain the Ph.D., students must: fulfill the Graduate School's residency requirements, complete coursework authorized by their advisory committee, conduct necessary research and compile a thesis presenting their discoveries, and successfully pass all examinations while meeting the Graduate Program and Graduate School's stipulated requirements.
Admission to the Ph.D. program usually requires an M.S. or equivalent degree with a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 (on a 4.00 scale). Applicants for the Ph.D. program will be evaluated on the quality of work completed in all previous degree programs.
English Proficiency: TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT) - a total score of 80 with a 19 on the speaking section for the internet-based test (iBT); TOEFL Paper-based test - the minimum acceptable score is 550; IELTS - The minimum acceptable composite score for the IELTS Academic Test is 6.5.
