Our graduates will master fundamental physics concepts (including statistical mechanics, classical mechanics, electrodynamics, and quantum theory) along with experimental and theoretical approaches central to contemporary physics practice.
Graduates will showcase, at a professional colloquium level, (i) familiarity with key challenges across physics disciplines, (ii) understanding of how these problems emerged from research, and (iii) current strategies being employed to solve them.
Graduates will develop professional communication skills, effectively presenting research findings through both written and oral presentations to specialized and general audiences.
Graduates will exhibit (i) comprehension of ethical professional standards, (ii) capacity to determine applicable ethical guidelines in various situations, and (iii) ability to implement appropriate responses.
Each graduate will specialize in a physics subfield, demonstrating (i) deep familiarity with current literature, (ii) critical evaluation of new research contributions, (iii) formulation of complex research questions with appropriate solution methodologies, and (iv) application of these methods to generate novel insights or experimental techniques that push the boundaries of their specialty.
A bachelor's degree in physics or an allied field is required for admission to the M.S., and Ph.D. programs. Students with a 2.50 or higher junior/senior grade-point average (on a 4.00 scale) in physics and mathematics will be considered, and the best-qualified applicants will be accepted up to the number of spaces that are available for new students. Exceptions to the minimum 2.50 GPA may be made for students with special backgrounds, abilities, and interests. Exceptions may also be made for applicants for doctoral programs who have completed master's degrees at other institutions.
English Proficiency: TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT) - a total score of 80 with a 19 on the speaking section for the internet-based test (iBT); TOEFL Paper-based test - the minimum acceptable score is 550; IELTS - The minimum acceptable composite score for the IELTS Academic Test is 6.5.
