Biorenewable systems encompass the frameworks and methods that develop and sustain biologically-derived products, which can be consistently replenished through effective technology and management practices. The BioRenewable Systems (BRS) degree is available as an on-campus, research-focused M.S. and Ph.D. program, with a thesis requirement for both degrees.
Our BioRenewable Systems (BRS) Graduate Program includes Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degree options.
The BioRenewable Systems major:
Combines scientific and technological knowledge with business principles (marketing, management, entrepreneurship, and leadership) for bio-based products/materials and their distribution networks,
Serves as an excellent graduate-level alternative for students without an engineering background, and
Equips graduates to drive innovation and progress in the expanding bio-based economy across critical industries: biofuels, energy, chemicals, bioplastics, packaging, pharmaceuticals, and personal care products.

Qualification Requirements
The program requirement for acceptance to graduate study toward a Ph.D. degree in BRS is typically an M.S. degree with research thesis in BRS or related discipline such as: Agricultural Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Business, Engineering, and Environmental Sciences, or with a B.S. degree in Agricultural Systems Management (ASM) or BRS or equivalent. Outstanding students interested in direct admission from a B.S., B.A., or M.B.A. program to the Ph.D.
English Proficiency: TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT) - a total score of 80 with a 19 on the speaking section for the internet-based test (iBT); TOEFL Paper-based test - the minimum acceptable score is 550; IELTS - The minimum acceptable composite score for the IELTS Academic Test is 6.5.
