Penn State's Doctor of Education (D.Ed.) in Educational Leadership is a professional program emphasizing key concepts and modern challenges in leadership practice. Designed for aspiring leaders in K-12 education, this degree prepares graduates for high-level roles including superintendent, assistant superintendent, principal, chief academic officer, and other administrative positions within school systems and educational institutions.
The program's curriculum meets Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) requirements for the Superintendent PK-12 Letter of Eligibility (LoE). Students pursuing this credential can integrate the approved course sequence into their doctoral studies.
Penn State's Educational Leadership program provides diverse learning formats, including hybrid and online courses, giving students flexibility in their studies. The program can be completed in three years of full-time study, with options for extended timelines for those preferring a more gradual pace.
For admission to the Graduate School, an applicant must hold a degree from an officially recognized degree-granting institution in the country in which it operates. Degree must be a: Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution or Tertiary (postsecondary) degree that is deemed comparable to a four-year bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution.
English Proficiency: TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT) - a total score of 80 with a 19 on the speaking section for the internet-based test (iBT); TOEFL Paper-based test - the minimum acceptable score is 550; IELTS - The minimum acceptable composite score for the IELTS Academic Test is 6.5.
