Immunology explores how living organisms defend against harmful pathogens. Grasping fundamental immune mechanisms reveals how blood cells form and how the body identifies and combats infectious agents. Moreover, comprehending immunological principles is essential for developing medicines and vaccines. When immune regulation fails, it can lead to excessive inflammation, tissue damage, autoimmune disorders, immune deficiencies, and certain cancers like leukemia. This field intersects with numerous disciplines including microbiology, virology, animal science, genetics, and molecular biology. Those pursuing an Immunology and Infectious Disease degree will gain knowledge about proper immune reactions to microbes and viruses while recognizing possible harmful consequences. The curriculum covers factors influencing immune responses, pathogen characteristics, and disease-causing processes. Students will also master essential techniques in microbiology and molecular biology. Graduates with this Bachelor's degree will be equipped for advanced studies in veterinary or medical fields, doctoral research in immunology-related areas, or rewarding careers as lab technicians or pharmaceutical representatives.
