The Engineering Science honors program is an interdisciplinary curriculum that fosters a deeper comprehension and practical integration of engineering, scientific, and mathematical concepts. Distinctive in its approach, the program offers a comprehensive grounding in the fundamental sciences and mathematics essential to engineering, while allowing students to specialize in their preferred field through technical electives and an honors research thesis. Tailored for those aiming to bridge engineering with pure sciences, the coursework includes core subjects like mathematics, physics, chemistry (and biology for pre-med students), alongside specialized topics such as thermodynamics, electromagnetics, fluid mechanics, and materials science. In their junior year, students explore various research domains to select a thesis topic, culminating in a senior-year capstone project where they apply scientific methodologies to engineering challenges. Study concentrations span electrical, mechanical, civil, biomedical, and materials engineering, often crossing traditional boundaries. As a result, Engineering Science graduates gain both specialized expertise and broad interdisciplinary skills, equipping them for advanced academic pursuits or diverse professional careers.
