The Bachelor of Arts in Theatre program encourages students to examine theater's historical roots, contemplate their current motivations for engaging with theater, and envision its future possibilities. The curriculum encompasses diverse coursework in both theatrical theory and practical application. Participants have opportunities to work as dramaturgs and assistant directors with Penn State's School of Theatre Centre Stage. Students frequently direct, design, and perform in BA productions and collaborate with the university's numerous student theater and dance organizations. Our program particularly seeks students who possess an inquisitive nature about theater as an art form and who aspire to create original performances, write plays, and direct their own productions. Additionally, the BA program serves as Penn State's hub for dance education, providing technical training alongside comprehensive courses in dance history and theory.
