The graduate program in History & Philosophy of Science offers specialized training in this interdisciplinary field, bridging humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. It examines how scientific knowledge has evolved across different historical contexts and explores science's shifting influence in contemporary society. The curriculum focuses particularly on scientific developments from the 16th century onward in Europe and North America, covering physical, earth, biological, medical, and social sciences, along with environmental history and the evolution of environmental sciences.
The program welcomes applicants with strong backgrounds in either science or history. While minimum requirements exist, exceptional cases may be reviewed for admission. Note that meeting basic qualifications doesn't guarantee acceptance, as university capacity is limited. Applicants without a Master's degree in History & Philosophy of Science should enroll in the Master's program first, even if they ultimately plan to pursue a Ph.D.
