The Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Biophysics offers a curriculum focused on the chemical and physical foundations of biological processes, combining instruction in chemistry, physics, mathematics, statistics, biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology, and biological sequence analysis. Biochemistry examines the molecular composition of living organisms and the chemical interactions within cells, while biophysics applies physical science techniques to investigate macromolecular structures and functions. This program prepares students for medical fields and allied health professions, careers in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, or advanced studies in biochemistry and biophysics. Biophysics training is particularly beneficial for those pursuing drug development. Students must choose between three specialized tracks: Advanced Biophysics, Neuroscience, or Pre-Medicine/Biochemistry and Biophysics. The first two pathways cater to students aiming for biotechnology/pharmaceutical careers or graduate research in biochemistry and biophysics, with the Neuroscience option specifically tailored for those interested in brain science. The Pre-Medicine track is designed for students pursuing healthcare-related professions.
