The apparel design curriculum emphasizes market-responsive and consumer-focused design. This program equips students with the professional skills needed for careers in the athletic and outdoor apparel sector. Upon graduation, students will possess comprehensive knowledge of fashion business operations, creative design processes, manufacturing, and promotional strategies.
The Apparel Design degree (major code 400) is a career-focused program administered by the College of Business. Incoming students initially enroll as Pre-Apparel Design majors (major code 453). The foundational pre-design coursework, completed during the first two years, establishes essential skills for advanced studio-based studies. These prerequisite courses must be finished before students can progress to upper-level design classes. The introductory pre-design curriculum can be taken at OSU or any accredited institution offering transferable equivalent courses.
