The Associate in Arts in Spanish for Transfer Degree helps students build communication skills while enhancing analytical and critical thinking abilities. This program creates a foundation for appreciating cultural diversity, equipping graduates for diverse career paths in our interconnected global society. As worldwide interdependence and digital connectivity increase, effective communication and interpersonal skills become increasingly essential. AA-T graduates can pursue opportunities across multiple disciplines including anthropology, business, diplomacy, economics, education, healthcare, linguistics, literature, political science, and sociology. While education remains a primary career option, graduates may also explore interpreting, translation, publishing, international trade, tourism, public relations, research, and numerous other professional avenues.
The department provides coursework ranging from beginner to intermediate levels. Each class aims to improve students' speaking, listening, reading, and writing competencies while offering a broad understanding of Spanish-speaking cultures. Although the AA-T curriculum includes four mandatory Spanish levels, students testing into advanced courses aren't required to take lower-level classes. Instead, they can select from approved substitute courses to fulfill the major's unit requirements.

Proof of high school completion for minor students entering OCC under 18 years of age.
Submit copies of your academic transcript with your admissions application for review. This may include high school or secondary school transcripts, university or college transcripts, or transcripts from an ESL program.
Academic transcripts do NOT need to be translated in English or mailed or received by the institution you attended for admissions review. However, this may be requested by the admission staff after the initial review of your application and application documents.

If English was not the primary language of instruction of an applicant's previous school (high school/secondary school or university or college), then the applicant must meet the English proficiency by ONE of the following-
IELTS - overall score of 5.5.
TOEFL - (IBT) - overall score 61.
TOEFL-(PBT) - 500
