Nursing is a dynamic and deeply fulfilling career path that continues to evolve. Modern nurses require both rigorous academic preparation and compassionate caregiving skills to provide excellent patient care while advancing the field. Contemporary nurses must recognize the value of building collaborative relationships in their communities to deliver effective healthcare services. They need to appreciate cultural diversity and biological variations among patients. Additionally, today's nurses must grasp the collaborative essence of healthcare teams and develop strong teamwork abilities. Old Dominion University's BSN program prepares nurses for these contemporary demands. The Prelicensure Program welcomes students from diverse educational paths - recent high school graduates, associate degree holders, individuals with non-nursing bachelor's degrees, and career changers from military or civilian backgrounds. Through this intensive five-semester program, students engage in coursework, lab sessions, and clinical rotations mentored by exceptionally qualified faculty members.
