Financial management encompasses four key disciplines: finance, personal financial planning, real estate, and risk management with insurance. Students graduating with a finance degree can pursue various career paths, including corporate finance roles like financial analysts, capital budgeting specialists, credit supervisors, or cash flow and risk management professionals. They may also enter investment management as securities researchers, client advisors, or portfolio strategists, or choose banking careers such as loan officers, marketing specialists, or credit analysts. Entrepreneurial opportunities are also available for those wishing to start their own ventures.
To earn a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a finance concentration from Old Dominion University, students must complete at least 25% of their total required credits (for instance, 30 credits in a 120-credit program) through university-approved courses, whether taken on campus or through approved external programs, while fulfilling all other institutional requirements.
