Students who graduate with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education will qualify for recommendation to obtain the necessary certification to teach music in public school systems. The program offers specializations in either vocal or instrumental music instruction for students from preschool through 12th grade. Upon finishing the accredited teacher preparation curriculum (which incorporates the Teacher Candidate Internship), Music Education graduates become qualified for Virginia's teaching certification, recognized across 47 states through reciprocity agreements. Old Dominion University's Bachelor of Music in Music Education equips future music teachers with thorough training. Through various field-based learning opportunities including observations, practicums, and internships, students enhance the exceptional teaching methodology, individual performance skills, and group ensemble expertise emphasized in the coursework.
