The Painting and Drawing program encourages exploration of diverse techniques, styles, and historical contexts within these art forms, while examining their place in today's artistic landscape. Students start with a solid foundation in essential skills needed to participate in both traditional and modern approaches to painting and drawing. Early classes build technical abilities, observational skills, and creative visualization through an intensive Foundations and Studio Core program, developing proficiency with various painting and drawing materials.
Mid-level studies revisit and broaden these skills while investigating the artistic possibilities of painting and drawing through theme-based projects. Upper-level coursework equips students to create personalized portfolios by focusing on their chosen themes, subjects, methods, and artistic mediums.
