The Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) is a specialized degree concentrating on advanced artistic practice across key visual arts disciplines: 3D Media & Materials Studies, Graphic Design, Painting & Drawing, and Photography & Print Media. Unlike some programs, the B.F.A. doesn't require a portfolio submission for freshman admission. Those pursuing this degree should meet with the Art Department's Chief Advisor either before or within their initial semester at ODU. Foundation-level studio art courses should be started during the student's first academic year.

Our bachelor's programs welcome all ODU undergraduates who have completed the necessary prerequisites for declaring a major.
Art Department alumni work in various professional settings including local schools, museums, and commercial enterprises.
