The History Department provides a Bachelor of Arts program designed to equip students for diverse professional paths in business, government, and education, as well as advanced studies in history, law, library science, business, or related fields. Our curriculum mirrors the wide-ranging expertise of our faculty, and we actively encourage students to explore our extensive course selection.
This degree presents numerous opportunities to broaden your educational experience beyond traditional classroom learning. Spring break study abroad programs are available, with the Holocaust in France course being particularly sought-after. Participants visit Paris and follow the journey of French Jews to Auschwitz. Full-semester international study options at universities worldwide are also offered. Hands-on internship opportunities at museums, historical sites, archaeological digs, and libraries provide practical experience and valuable professional connections.
Earning a history degree develops essential research and analytical abilities applicable to various careers. Many graduates pursue secondary education teaching positions. Other career paths include historian roles in government agencies and corporations, archival research positions, museum curation, and military service. The program also serves as excellent preparation for law school and legal careers.
