The Boone Pickens School of Geology (BPSoG) offers an M.S. program that enables students to conduct research across diverse fields including petroleum geosciences, hydrology, environmental and climate studies, earth structure and dynamics, and computational geosciences. This program aims to equip graduates for professional roles in industry or government sectors, as well as prepare them for further academic pursuits in Ph.D. programs.
Program Requirements
Total of 30 credit hours (including six thesis credits)
Minimum GPA requirement of 3.0
Up to eight credits may be from Advanced Studies in Geology (GEOL 5990)
Mandatory completion of Research Methods and Techniques in Geosciences (GEOL 5243)
Development and approval of a research plan, including committee selection
Thesis proposal defense
Final thesis completion and defense
