The Chemical Physics program emphasizes groundbreaking and impactful research. Therefore, admission is exclusively granted to students pursuing a Ph.D. This page provides details for the limited cases where students discontinue their studies before earning a doctorate. Candidates must complete at least two semesters of residency at The Ohio State University, accumulating 30 semester hours of graduate coursework, including research credits. Required courses must be at the 6000-9000 level (6000 or higher for non-Physics/Chemistry Departments) and approved by both the Chemical Physics Graduate Studies Committee and the student's advisor. These must incorporate the core doctoral curriculum. Course selection should be made in consultation with the thesis advisor.
