The Atmospheric Sciences Program (ASP) equips students with fundamental knowledge of physical principles, theoretical frameworks, methodological expertise, and practical applications in meteorology and climatology. Our aim is to cultivate scholars and researchers capable of conducting top-tier academic work. Graduate students play a vital role in the Program's academic community, with their research and instructional contributions being essential to our objectives. These aspirations are embodied in our graduate program's comprehensive goals: To swiftly integrate graduate students into the collaborative academic, scientific, and teaching environment of the Geography Department, ASP, and University; To establish a shared knowledge base for atmospheric science research; To deliver diverse courses tailored to students' research and professional development needs, while facilitating access to relevant courses beyond our department; To expose students to cutting-edge atmospheric science research; To promote active participation in academic presentations and scholarly discussions; And to assist graduate students financially through teaching/research assistantships, fellowships, and other support systems. The ASP fosters exceptional critical thinkers and builds the groundwork for successful careers. OSU's Geography/Atmospheric Sciences program has a proven track record of preparing students for varied professions in education, government agencies, private industry, and nonprofit organizations. Notably, our master's graduates consistently leverage their comprehensive training to pursue rewarding careers across multiple disciplines.
