As a premier global institution, The Ohio State University provides extensive resources across its stunning Columbus, Ohio campus. Within this vibrant academic environment, the School of Music operates as a key division of the College of Arts and Sciences, serving as Ohio State's intellectual core. The school maintains an ideal size - substantial enough to leverage the boundless opportunities of a top-tier university, yet intimate enough to address each student's personal development. Established in the 19th century, the School of Music now provides students, faculty, and visiting artists with a dynamic space for creating outstanding music, fostering artistic excellence, investigating teaching approaches, and pioneering research. Organized into specialized study areas, each led by dedicated directors, the School boasts a distinguished faculty of world-renowned performers, composers, researchers, and educators, complemented by expert full-time and adjunct instructors. These faculty members mentor about 300 undergraduate and 150 graduate music majors, along with numerous non-majors pursuing music minors, coursework, or participation in diverse performance groups.
