As a premier global institution, The Ohio State University provides extensive resources across its stunning Columbus, Ohio campus. Within this vibrant academic environment, the School of Music operates under the College of Arts and Sciences, serving as Ohio State's intellectual core. The school maintains an ideal size - substantial enough to leverage the boundless opportunities of a top-tier university, yet intimate enough to address each student's personal needs. Established in the 19th century, the School of Music now provides a dynamic space for students, faculty, and visiting artists to create outstanding music, foster artistic development, investigate teaching approaches, and pioneer innovative research. Organized into specialized study areas, each led by a dedicated director, the School boasts faculty comprising acclaimed performers, composers, researchers, and educators from around the world, alongside expert full-time and adjunct instructors. These faculty members mentor about 300 undergraduate and 150 graduate music majors, plus numerous non-majors pursuing music minors, taking courses, or joining performance groups.
