The Department of Arts Administration, Education and Policy aims to critically examine cultural significance to drive social transformation and serve the public good through artistic and visual cultural excellence. We focus on comprehending arts and culture, particularly visual culture, within a diverse, global, and technologically advanced society. Key areas of exploration include: Teaching methodologies and approaches, Critical examination of historical and modern art, Evaluation of arts and cultural policies in public and educational spheres, and Investigation into the philosophical, historical, and policy frameworks of art education, arts management, and cultural policy. Our program highlights: Digital media in cultural creation, Policy analysis, Instructional methods, Learning evaluation, and Comparative international practices.
The MA in Arts Policy and Administration is a collaborative program between the Department of Arts Administration, Education and Policy and the John Glenn College of Public Affairs. This two-year program requires 49 credit hours across both departments, covering public policy in the arts, arts management, and arts education policy. AAEP and the Glenn College collaborate to deliver a well-rounded curriculum exploring the connections between public policy, arts, and culture. As one of the nation's pioneering programs in arts policy research and training, students gain hands-on experience through internships with Columbus arts institutions like the Columbus Museum of Art, Opera Columbus, the Ohio Arts Council, BalletMet, and Ohio State's Wexner Center for the Arts.
A baccalaureate or professional degree (or equivalent foreign credential) from an accredited college or university, earned by the expected date of entry into your graduate program. A minimum of a 3.0 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale) in all prior undergraduate and graduate work.
