The Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) is an intensive four-year professional program requiring three to four years of preparatory undergraduate coursework. This degree program trains students across all aspects of veterinary practice, fosters analytical problem-solving skills, and equips graduates for continuous professional development. Recognized as fourth among North America's 32 veterinary schools, our College of Veterinary Medicine operates the nation's most extensive Veterinary Medical Center, featuring a Clinical Trials Office that delivers cutting-edge treatments. Through initiatives ranging from worldwide health projects to fundamental cancer studies, the college adopts a One Health philosophy, integrating animal welfare, human medicine, and environmental factors to improve global wellbeing.
The College of Veterinary Medicine does not recommend any specific pre-professional or undergraduate degree program. Although a bachelor's degree is not a prerequisite for admission, prospective applicants are encouraged to enroll in degree programs of their choosing while taking the required pre-veterinary courses or their equivalents.
