The Theatre Department thrives as a dynamic hub dedicated to educating and shaping tomorrow's artist-scholars. Alongside our acclaimed performance seasons, we frequently host theater professionals and academics to collaborate on performance creation and discourse. We believe fostering original works is essential to theater's vitality, offering students chances to develop fresh performances while honoring our heritage through staging classical, modern, and contemporary plays. The Wexner Center for the Arts enhances our programs by showcasing groundbreaking international performers. Students gain professional theater experience via varied internships and global programs. Our PhD curriculum focuses on academic exploration in theater history, criticism, theory, and dramatic literature, requiring at least 45 graduate credits post-MA/MFA and culminating in a dissertation. Candidates also specialize in one production discipline: Acting, Directing, Design, or Dramaturgy.
