The Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures (DEALL) provides Master's and Doctoral programs in Chinese and Japanese, covering literature, linguistics, and language teaching. Each year, numerous graduate students showcase their work or join workshops at prominent academic conferences. The department actively supports student publications, with many receiving university-wide recognition for exceptional research papers. DEALL earned an Academic Challenge Grant from Ohio for its distinguished Japanese Studies program, enabling expanded research opportunities and the addition of two Japan specialists in history and literature.
