The Graduate Program in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering aims to cultivate skilled researchers, educators, and professionals with expertise in advanced computing. Learners have the option to earn a master's degree, doctoral degree, or both. Those seeking a PhD without completing a master's can apply for the direct PhD pathway. PhD students complete coursework in one primary specialization and two secondary focus areas, along with core requirements. Secondary areas may include disciplines outside the department like psychology or mathematics. With faculty mentorship, doctoral students must conduct original, impactful research in computer science and successfully defend a dissertation.
