This program equips professionals to support children from infancy through age eight across educational and agency environments. It offers specialized training for overseeing early childhood initiatives and coordinating community services for families with young children. The curriculum blends academic concepts with hands-on experience through clinical, community, and school-based practicums.

Qualification Requirements

The two recommendation forms must be from individuals who are in a supervisory relationship to the applicant
Goal statement which includes the reasons for application, the intended focus of graduate study, professional and career goals, and a description of experiences and accomplishments in working with children and their families.

To be admitted to the M.Ed in early childhood education degree program in full standing, the applicant must have an undergraduate cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or above. Applicants with an undergraduate GPA less than 3.0, but with an appropriate academic background and strong letters of recommendation, may be considered for admission in limited standing.

Oakland University will only accept transcript evaluations completed by a current member of NACES. Most students choose World Educational Services, Educational Credential Evaluators or SpanTran. Graduate programs usually require a course-by-course (or detailed) evaluation report rather than the general evaluation report. Since official transcripts are required for your transcript evaluation.

Students who qualify for this admission classification must complete a maximum of 12 credits of graduate coursework with a grade of 3.4 or above in each course within the first academic year.
