Northwestern's piano program equips emerging artists with the skills needed for diverse careers in today's musical landscape.
At the heart of piano education are one-on-one lessons that inspire students to discover the vast range of piano literature. Numerous performance avenues exist, from studio sessions and weekly recitals to concerto contests and off-campus engagements. Chicago-area competitions also provide performance platforms and monetary awards.
Our piano instructors are seasoned performer-educators with varied professional backgrounds. Their holistic teaching philosophy fosters students' artistic identity and musical principles. With typically fewer than 50 students across all degree levels, our intimate program nurtures a supportive yet ambitious learning environment.
Admitted students must hold a U.S. bachelor’s degree or a comparable non-U.S. degree from a regionally accredited institution.
TOEFL or IELTS test scores are required of most international applicants.
