Northwestern University's woodwinds program boasts a rich and celebrated legacy.
From its inception in the 1950s, the program has centered around an exceptional faculty, with numerous members also connected to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Every instructor is committed to fostering student growth and ensuring career achievements after graduation. Alumni have secured positions with the New York Philharmonic, Boston Symphony, San Francisco Symphony, Chicago Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra, and other prestigious ensembles globally, along with holding significant academic roles.

Northwestern accepts results from both the TOEFL and the IELTS.
There is no minimum score required by Northwestern. Competitive applicants demonstrate a high level of English proficiency and often score in the high range on all four sections (Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing) of the TOEFL iBT, or receive IELTS band scores in highest three bands on the overall and individual scores (Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking).
