Northwestern University's Percussion Studies program offers comprehensive training in orchestral, solo, chamber, world, and jazz percussion. Students learn from renowned artists through private lessons and master classes, gaining exceptional percussion education.
The Percussion Studio typically has around 20 students annually: 12 undergraduates and 8 graduates. While most students participate in major ensembles, doctoral students step in as required. Performance groups include the Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Contemporary Music Ensemble. Placement occurs through quarterly screened auditions (fall, winter, and spring), providing valuable preparation for professional careers.
