The Middle East and North African Studies Program provides undergraduate students with the chance to explore and deepen their understanding of this vast and varied world region through its history, languages, literature, political systems, and societies. Although the MENA Studies major allows for focused specialization, the program emphasizes cross-regional and interdisciplinary methods, enabling students to discover diverse perspectives for examining the region's unique characteristics.
For both majors and minors, undergraduates enroll in a mix of courses directly offered by the MENA program and those taught by affiliated faculty from other departments (these approved courses are listed in the Course Guide available on this site). Major students may also request approval from the MENA Director of Undergraduate Studies for unlisted courses, provided they can show how these align with their academic focus.
