This discipline offers three pre-major options: Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, and Geography. The program equips students with foundational knowledge for transferring to a university program in these fields.
Environmental Science emphasizes the scientific principles behind environmental challenges, requiring coursework in biology, environmental science, and calculus-level mathematics. University studies may expand into ecology, environmental management, wildlife conservation, or aquatic sciences.
Environmental Studies takes an interdisciplinary approach, incorporating subjects like anthropology, economics, introductory statistics, and technical writing. This path examines environmental solutions at the nexus of scientific and human-nature interactions, potentially leading to university specializations in urban development, resource policy, climate studies, or non-profit leadership.
Geography and Environmental Sustainability blends multiple geographical perspectives - human, physical, and global. At university level, students might focus on sustainability and climate science, regional studies, urban design, or geospatial information systems.
Our curriculum introduces key geographical and environmental principles covering:
Earth's physical systems (including weather patterns, land formations, atmospheric and water systems), Human-environment interactions (such as cultural geography, globalization, and societal systems), Regional interconnections (like trade networks, economic growth, and geopolitical dynamics), Scientific and policy dimensions of environmental challenges (including pollution control, climate adaptation, and sustainable development)
