The criminal justice pre-major offers students fundamental knowledge in the field of criminal justice. This program covers the historical and philosophical foundations of criminal law, along with its substantive and procedural components. Learners will explore the jurisdiction, structure, operations, and principles of both state and federal court systems. The curriculum includes studies of correctional institutions and policing structures, with approval from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
Class sizes are capped at 25 students, fostering strong engagement between learners and instructors. The faculty brings practical expertise from various sectors including corrections, probation, law enforcement, and legal court systems.
