The Associate of Arts program serves as the foundational equivalent to the first two years of a Bachelor's degree. This flexible curriculum may or may not meet the prerequisites of particular transfer institutions. Consult your academic advisor for precise transfer guidelines. You're prepared to move past basic data management and evolve into a strategic financial partner who translates numbers into actionable insights for financial strategy, forecasting, risk management, and operational decision-making (Forbes, 2018). NVC's Accounting program provides your starting point. Accounting education teaches you to compile, evaluate, and convey critical business intelligence. You'll examine organizational resources and operational effectiveness through an accounting lens. The field offers diverse career trajectories that correspond with our business pathway specializations.
After completing accounting coursework, you'll gain hands-on experience with continuous financial analysis, data interpretation, and periodic reporting (weekly/monthly), generate reports on profitability, liabilities, and inventory, and support managerial decisions with financial insights. You'll develop skills to analyze, interpret, and present enterprise-level financial information to stakeholders including investors, staff, and customers, typically through quarterly and annual disclosures.
